Double Cleansing is when you first use a cleansing oil (or balm) to remove makeup, SPF and daily grime. You then follow with a water-based foaming cleanser to clean the face.

What is it to Double Cleanse?
Double Cleansing originated in Asia, as long ago as the 14th century. Japanese and Korean women removed their traditional thick makeup using a cleansing oil, as this is the best type of cleanser to remove makeup, then followed with a water-based foaming cleanser to clean their faces. This way of using two different cleanser types really ensures the face is clean, from then you can apply your mists serums & oils. After all, there’s no point in using lovely nutrient-rich leave-on products if you’re applying to them to a face that isn’t clean – they won’t absorb properly and will be limited in how efficacious they can be.
Perhaps you felt your facial oils / serums haven’t absorbed well, or that your pores remain clogged / large even after cleansing. This can be frustrating, but you may see a real difference by simply following the Double Cleanse system. The results should be cleaner brighter skin that absorbs your leave-on products much better.
How to Double Cleanse
The normal steps are starting with an oil or balm cleanser to really remove the tough grime, dirt, makeup and SPF from the face. You then follow with a gentle water-based / foaming cleanser to clear out the pores, carry out any exfoliation, get rid of any last traces of makeup and the buildup of the day. Your second cleanse will be a lot more effective at cleaning the skin if the first cleanse has been done to remove oil and grime.
With our Double Cleanse Kit you have a choice of one of our Biologique cleansing oils to pair with either a Glow Powder Cleanser or Hydrating Wash, with optional organic flannels.
Do I need to Double Cleanse?
You don’t need to double cleanse in the morning. Some people may just like a cursory wipe with a flannel, some just a splash of water. We love our Glow Powder Cleanser in the morning, or the Glow Hydrating Wash.
If you’re wearing makeup and / or SPF then a Double Cleanse would be good and pretty much guarantees you’ve removed all of the additions you’ve added to your skin, and then cleansed your face underneath.
If you’re not wearing makeup / SPF but you are particularly oily / have congested skin, or have been out in the city etc with pollution and dirt, a double cleanse would be beneficial.
Not wearing makeup / SPF / not been out / have normal skin, you can just cleanse once in the evening and shouldn’t need to cleanse twice.

How to Use
First use your cleansing oil to remove make up, daily dirt and SPF. Then for an Exfoliating cleanse follow with your Glow Powder Cleanser. For a Hydrating cleanse use the Hydrating Wash. Once make up / daily grime is removed your second cleanse can get to work clearing out pores to promote fresh bright clean skin.
