Konjac Sponge – Your New Favourite Cleansing Tool
Konjac sponges are 100% natural sponges with a really soft texture, to use as a natural facial and body cleansing sponge. Made out of vegetable fibres from the Konjac root (aka elephant yam). Use it to cleanse, gently exfoliate and nourish skin.
Konjac Sponges have been used in Japan for more than 100 years, they are so gentle the Japanese use them as bath sponges for newborn babies! Due to growing popularity the Konjac Sponge is on the rise as a facial cleansing and body sponge right across the world.
Konjac sponges feel really gentle on the skin, especially compared to other facial exfoliators. A water barrier forms over the surface of the sponge so when you massage your face this barrier protects the skin. You could even describe the feeling of it on your skin as slimy! But we love it, it is unctuous!
Unlike other exfoliators that harm the environment (looking at you microbeads!!), konjac sponges are 100% natural, non-toxic, and compostable / biodegradable.
Use this konjac facial sponge as your morning cleanse, second cleanse, or you could even use it as your primary evening cleanse if you haven’t worn makeup or been exposed to too much pollution etc.
Taking Care of Your Konjac Sponge
Every couple of weeks drop your konjac sponge in very hot (but not boiling) water for about 5 minutes. This will sterilise it, prolonging use.
After around 2-3 months or when your sponge no longer expands properly / starts to disintegrate – it’s time to replace it. You can simply toss it into the garden, or add it to your compostable rubbish, as it is just vegetable root.
Keeping the sponge in the fridge between uses can also prolong its life.
Never leave a child alone with a sponge in case they try and eat it.
My daughter is very particular about what she uses on her face but swears by these sponges, her skin is glowing!
Good, gentle exfoliation.
Love these.
So soft and gentle to my skin, clean like magic.
Love my magic sponge! It really does lather up with just water. Bought extras for my sister and nieces to try.
