Ingredient Focus: Petitgrain Essential Oil

We use certified organic oil in our biologique Petitgrain & Tamanu Cleansing Oil.

Aroma: Woody yet floral, similar to Neroli.

Petitgrain’s name comes from the fact its oil used to be obtained from the unripe fruit of the Orange tree (little grains), now it is distilled from the leaves and young shoots. It is native to central Asia but is now predominantly found in the Mediterranean.

History: Since the 18th century Petitgrain oil has been a popular ingredient within the perfume industry, and is also used to fragrance and flavour foods and cosmetics. It has also been used to treat epilepsy.

Main constituents: Citral, Geraniol, Limonene.

Properties for the skin: Petitgrain essential oil is a tonic and mild astringent. It can help reduce skin congestion clearing up greasy skin and spots.

Properties for the mind: Calming, refreshing, picks you up when you’re feeling blue.
